Laurie Sleep is a yoga teacher and teacher trainer from San Francisco currently living in New York City. She earned her initial 500-hour certification through YogaWorks, apprenticing with Jeanmarie Paolillo. Laurie currently studies with Annie Carpenter and is an Advanced SmartFLOW Graduate with over 500 hours of SmartFLOW training. She is also a Certified Roll Model® Method Practitioner and can incorporate myofascial release into her classes and private sessions.
Laurie's classes use movement to cultivate mindfulness and create a space for self-inquiry. With clear instruction, intelligent sequencing, and a down-to-earth style, Laurie creates a warm and encouraging environment for students of all levels. An avid hiker, backpacker, and nature lover, Laurie also leads YogaWalks, retreats, and workshops that integrate yoga, hiking, and nature as a way to facilitate connection and groundedness.
In addition to teaching yoga, Laurie has a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, teacher educator, and educational researcher. Teaching yoga provides the opportunity to combine her passion for yoga with her love of teaching, and she feels fortunate to be able to share this amazing practice with others.
