Laurie Sleep is a yoga teacher and teacher trainer from San Francisco currently living in New York City. Her classes use movement to cultivate mindfulness and to create a space for self-inquiry. With her clear instruction, intelligent sequencing, and a down-to-earth style, Laurie creates a warm and encouraging environment for students of all levels. An avid hiker, backpacker, and nature lover, Laurie also teaches Hiking Yoga and leads retreats and workshops that integrate yoga, hiking, and nature as a way to facilitate connection and groundedness.
Laurie earned her initial 500-hour certification through YogaWorks, apprenticing with Jeanmarie Paolillo. She currently studies with Annie Carpenter and is an Advanced SmartFLOW Graduate with over 500 hours of SmartFLOW training. She is also a Certified Roll Model® Method Practitioner and can incorporate myofascial release into her classes and private sessions.
In addition to her yoga teaching, Laurie has a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and over 15 years of experience as a classroom teacher, teacher educator, and educational researcher.
